“OMG. I have an 8-hour layover in between my connecting flights. What am I gonna do?”
In between transits and connecting flights, it is not a rare sight to see people lying on the seats at waiting areas catching a nap or just trying to make themselves comfortable camping by the power sockets and making use of the free WiFi at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. How about wandering around the terminal to see what’s in KLIA? Check out the video below in HD! (On a side note, it is important to check whether a visa is required to pass through Malaysian immigration clearance.)

Places to check out within the terminal
If watching planes taking off and landing on runways is your thing, consider checking out the viewing gallery located at the end of the main terminal (after McDonald’s) where you’ll have a really nice view.
Located within the viewing gallery, there’s a special play area for your little ones as well. This play area was set up recently, so it is relatively new!
Got time to spare to wander off the terminal (5 hours layover or longer)?
Avid aviation enthusiast? We might know just the place for you to check out the aeroplanes approaching 32L runway of KLIA. You’ll need a ride, and we got you covered.
With GoCar, you have the option to rent a Nissan Almera for RM14.90 by the hour or RM99 by the day, depending on how much time you have to spare. (Here’s an insider’s tip: if you’re booking the car for more than 7 hours, it’ll be converted automatically to our daily rate.) All you got to do is download the GoCar app from App Store or Google Play and register as a member before you make a booking.
Then, make your way to KLIA’s car rental parking bay to collect the car and type “Jalan Pekeliling” in the navigation to head to this plane-spotting location. We recommend using Google Maps or Waze as you’ll receive updates on traffic conditions and diversions as you drive. Once you are satisfied with your plane-spotting session, simply return to the GoCar to the designated parking lot where you picked it up.
Go shopping at Mitsui Premium Outlet
Located approximately 10 minutes away from KLIA, Mitsui Premium Outlet is a shopping mall that houses outlet designer shops and high street brands. Expect to find Hugo Boss, Balenciaga, Bally, Topshop, Nike and more under the same roof. Products sold here are at a significantly lower price as these may be off-season products, so if you don’t mind this, you’re in for lots of savings! One thing we love about the mall is their free luggage storage service. Time to ditch the bags and shop ’til your drop!
Mitsui Premium Outlet isn’t hard to locate. You can take a GoCar for a short drive to the mall, or simply hop onto Mitsui’s free dedicated shuttle buses that depart from Gate 2 on Level 1.
